Arun D’Silva will be riding for Aarohi

Arun will be riding his third TFN, and his second as a charity rider. Arun has been cycling for over 20 years, but nothing caught his imagination like the TFN. After riding the first tour, cycling suddenly had a meaning! It moved from a form of individual exercise to a being a social activity with an enormous potential for outreach. This prompted Arun to accept the role of a charity rider for AAROHI in the 2010 TFN. Read about AAROHI in the note attached.

Apart form cycling, Arun is a passionate horse rider. He competes regularly in Show jumping competitions in South India, and plays polo at club level.

On the professional front, Arun graduated from XLRI, and currently is the India Representative for a leading swiss watch manufacturer.

Aarohi is a non-profit, grassroots organisation committed to need-based and people-planned integrated rural development in the Central Himalayan region of Uttarakhand.

Aarohi’s work has spanned 100 villages in the mountains of Nainital and Almora districts in Uttarakhand, which have benefited approximately 50,000 people to date. Many issues of poverty have been addressed through activities related to Forest Management, Health Care, Livelihoods, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Women’s Development and Education.
