Why Cycle?!

Many who hear me talk about the TFN are amused!

Most of them don’t seem to be able to wrap their head around why anyone would want to cycle such insane number of miles in these times of cars and such modes of travel.

But after having cycled most of my life, I would say that cycling gives you freedom to explore.

But after having done the TFN, I can say cycling makes you a better person, appreciating Nature in a way that you won’t be able to if you’d travel in any other way.

You’ll find most cyclists are gentle, law abiding road users. Because, you won’t see a cyclist jumping the traffic light. You won’t see a cyclist skipping lanes without properly indicating and looking for oncoming traffic and you definitely realize that cyclists are the most compassionate when it comes to stopping to help a fellow pedestrian or road user.

After having driven a car and ridden a motorbike, I know it’s time to cycle again when I find myself ‘slipping into bad ways’.

A kilometer into cycling and I know I’ve reformed.

While you certainly make a ‘style’ when you are on a Bianchi or a Cannondale, it is pure exhilaration that really makes a person get up and pedal the next morning and the morning after.

The effort that it takes to pedal up a 20% gradient is nothing compared to the feeling you get when you come rushing down on the other side of the uphill.

With cycling, you’ll certainly know that it’s not the miles you’ve passed, but the hills you’ve climbed that matters.

Of course, the breeze in your face and the luxury of knowing that you can stop where you want, when you want is what makes bicycling a favorite way to explore nature.

I’ve often worried if I’d have the fuel to last the journey when I journey long distances in my motorbike.

But on a cycle, you don’t need no fuel, no expensive spare parts and no reason to not go cycling.

Clichéd as it is, cycling is still the most eco-friendly way of getting around.

Besides being good for the environment, it is also the healthiest way for your body too!

Talking about cycling being the most chosen method of fitness, we’d like to hear from you on why you chose cycling as a fitness tool.
