Competitive Segment

Stage 1: Kanakapura - Halgur Competitive Section.
BSA TfN 2011 Day 1. 25km Competitive section(CS). Rolling in the first few kms and then settles into a fast flat course. Road conditions are very good.

Stage 2: Mysore - Hassan Competitive Section.
BSA TfN 2011 Day 2. 25km Competitive Section towards Hassan. The course is flat, could be very windy. The road condition is very good but has a few speed breakers.

Stage 3: Hassan - Madikeri Competitve Section.
BSA TfN 2011 Day 3 - 9.6km Competitive Section on the climb towards Madikeri after Kushalnagar. The gentle climb gains 323m of elevation in 9.6kms. The road is wide and paved brilliantly. There are a few 6% sections but also has flat reprieves. Over all an easy climb but you will have 180kms in the legs before you get here.

Stage 4: Madikeri to Kannur will have NO Competitive Sections.

Stage 5: Kannur Climb.
BSA TfN 2011 day 6 - Kannur to Sultanbatteri will feature a 6km Competitive Section on the climb towards Manathavadi. The entire climb is 14 kms long but the CS is the first 6Km. The CS climb gains 300m in 6kms. Around km 2 the road eases off for a few hundred metres before picking up again. The climb has many steep sections. Over all the climb is tough and the road conditions are patchy.

Stage 6: Ooty Competitive Section.
BSA TfN 2011 Day 7 - Sultanbatteri - Ooty. The Competitive Section is a 23km climb towards Ooty after exiting Gudulur. The CS does not start until 2 kms into the climb to clear away from the busy dwellings. The 23km climb gains 1000m in elevation and finishes at Pykara. The climb is constant in gradient and tough. The road surface is over all very good but does have a few small patchy sections. Ooty is a further 15km climb.

Stage 7: Ooty to Kodanad will have NO Competitive Section.
